My Valentine's

#longdistancelovenomore #2015singapore #lifewelltraveled

It was short and sweet and just appropriate because it was our Valentine's weekend. I have never been to Singapore; and though he has been there many times for flight assignments, he was there to discover many things with me.

From taking goofy pic shots with the Merlion, doing sky luge and sky ride at Sentosa, trying new delicacies like Kaya toast, to enjoying succulent chili crab dish.

We arrived early Friday morning. Since we cannot checked-in to our hotel yet, we started at River Walk from Clarke Quay up to Merlion. With warm coffee in hand, we enjoyed the quiet avenue with the morning runners. I love moments like this. Feeling at ease in a new environment. Like we can do this again tomorrow and the next days after.

With the sun high and temperature rising, we headed back to our hotel after many photo ops with the famous Merlion. You cannot say you have been to Singapore if you don't have a picture of the Merlion. You will find it at the bay and at Sentosa Island.

Feeling fresh and re-charged and hungry, we went to Lau Pa Sat. What should I say? How should I described the place? Just be hungry when you get there. Try something new. And come back. It is gastronomical and affordable. And though it is mostly recommended to tourists, you will find similar places all over Singapore.

We continued our walk and our conversation as we went up to the highest point in Singapore thru the Singapore Flyer. It is best to ride it at dusk and at night. Just be prepared to be in line as it gets longer as the sun sets. Enjoy a cup or a cone of gelato while you walk the Helix Bridge then to the Gardens by the Bay. It has been a long day for us so we decided to walk around the park and promised to come back to this place on some other trip to see their botanical gardens.

Going super casual on our Valentine's Day. We went to Sentosa Island and skipped the Universal Studios and other parks. Instead we went straight to Sky Luge and Sky ride and we did it for about an hour. We felt like kids again! Good thing we were there early because we were able to enjoy the trail mostly to ourselves. Took one bus ride around the island just to see what else they offer then head back to our hotel to change and be ready for the big ending.

What big ending? As big as the Sri Lankan crab. You cannot leave Singapore unless you have tried their chili crab. As well as the kaya toast. As well as laksa. As well as their kopi.

Yes, it was packed with many adventures and lots of food and lots of holding hands and lots of hugs.
