Jet Lag

When I showed up for work yesterday, colleagues greeted me with "Welcome back! How was your trip?". They are fascinated by my lifestyle of travelling to Asia, Hong Kong and Philippines and back to US every year. They asked about these countries and wonder how long is my travel.

Well, it is a 15 hour flight from my origin to Hong Kong. And if I have a connecting flight to the Philippines, there is usually an hour or two lay over and another two-hour flight from Hong Kong to Manila, Philippines. But that's not my hometown yet. If I get there early, I can catch an early flight from Manila to Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. And yes, its another hour flight. From Cagayan de Oro to Iligan, there is a three hour car ride.

So basically, I travel for two days. Thus, there occurs a jet lag.

Excited to be home and happy to see family and friends, jet lag never seems to bother me when I travel to see them. It is worst and bad when I get back to the US.

Going to the Philippines is gaining a day so I think my circadian rhythm is not disrupted too much unlike the travel back to US wherein I lose a day.

Its day 2 for me since I got back and I am still following a different time zone. It has been said that this can last for days. The worst I had experienced lasted for a week. A friend suggested exposure to sunlight will help. I did plan to run outside after work yesterday; but as soon as I got home, my bed is calling me and my eyes won't stay open.

Right now, I am up and awake since 1am. Work starts at 8am and hopefully, I will be productive and stress-free.

Whatever inconvenience jet lag brings, I will plan for another trip to be with family and friends.

OH, don't forget to drink lots of water. And work yourself tired until end of the day so you can sleep at night, US time. Hugs and kisses from way out here in PH.
