Just A First

Its a heads up for you. Just a first of the many posts I will be sharing about our life in our new home.

Mac and I are finally calling one city as our home together; and its New York City.

Of course, we visit St. Patrick's for thanksgiving. Its right at the famous 5th Ave and right across Rockeller.

Getting settled

What a welcome! Nobody warned us about the severity of how bad it is to find a new apartment in NYC. They did mention it will not be easy but we never thought to expect for the worst.

I guessed we put ourselves in the spot by deciding not to get an agent initially. We started by walking around the neighborhood we liked. Started calling numbers and asking for any vacancies.

My Summer Read

So far, so good. I did not go far and wide to make my list of books to read this summer. As usual, my friends and sisters and cousins have good books to recommend.

I am mostly into light read, romance and young adults stories. But it has been frustrating this year. Nothing ignite my imagination or evoke my emotions. Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy them but I won't give them more than three stars.

Love, Rosie, Paper Towns, The DUFF: (Designated Ugly Fat Friend), Meant to be, Eleanor and Park, and Wonder.

I guess the plot of these stories are getting way too familiar to me. So many similarities.

Loads of goodness and sweetness

It is like a countdown for me and my family here in HK. Mac and I are about to embark on a new adventure as married couple sharing one home at last. It is #longdistancenomore kind of love and it is definitely exciting.

So my sister-in-law brought us to her favorite dessert place her in Hong Kong, La Creperie at Sheung Wan. Tasted their Les Poulains and Spaghetti Bolognese which were all good and filling. Quite a good size serving for dinner entree.

And most of all, we immensely enjoyed their La Jamaicaine. It is one of their Les Flambees Crepes. Totally good and sweet. I should have ordered one for me, instead of to share.

For everyone to see

We found ourselves among the old temples of Siem Reap. Our tuktuk driver, Kimlean, was kind and helpful and very informative about his country and his culture and its history.

We knew there would be many temples to see and it can be overwhelming in its numbers and sizes and its distances. Simlean took hold of our itinerary and brought us to all the beautiful temples.

Spring into summer

Three months has passed and not a single post. I guessed life got me so pretty preoccupied. And that's a wonderful thing.

When the world starts to give you more colors and life, you take it in and enjoy what surprises it will give. Winter has been long and cold, of course. It makes the longing for spring then into summer so sweet.

I grew up appreciating flowers from my Granny's garden to her love for all roses, to my Mama's modest orchids collection. Thus each spring and each flower bloom, I cherish memories and make more.

So much more that now, I have more time to spend with my husband.

Across the miles

Now. More than ever. It is important to reach out and make my family and friends smile. Across the miles.

Birthdays coming. Consoling a friend. Keeping in touch. Belated Valentine's card. All the same. Sending them all love and joy.

Even in this time of blogging, emails, texting and social media, nothing beats a snail mail. Brings nostalgia and surprise.

My Valentine's

#longdistancelovenomore #2015singapore #lifewelltraveled

It was short and sweet and just appropriate because it was our Valentine's weekend. I have never been to Singapore; and though he has been there many times for flight assignments, he was there to discover many things with me.

From taking goofy pic shots with the Merlion, doing sky luge and sky ride at Sentosa, trying new delicacies like Kaya toast, to enjoying succulent chili crab dish.
