How I love reading

I cannot remember what was my first book but I do know that when I started school library became a favorite happy place.

My grandmother was also my English primary school teacher. When she have things to finish before we head home, she would make me wait for her inside the library. It was such a fascinating place for me. I must say I am a visual reader. I am more enticed to pick a book that have a pretty cover. I guess when I was waiting for Granny I was reading books with short stories but with big pictures.

I, then, fell in love with a girl named Nancy Drew because of her adventures and friends. My cousin, Tischa, have her own collection and I confess I was envious of her at that age. Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys were the ones I hang out with from 4th grade to 6th grade. Then, I was introduced to Sweet Valley High before I started my high school years. I was 13 years old then. I started having school crush.

It was in high school that I met my best friend Lara and she also loves to read. My sisters, Audrey and Lisa, were also sharing the same books with me. Up to this time, we passed our books from one to the other.

My weekends now are not my own. I have chores to complete. I have work weekend schedules. I hang out with friends because weekends are the only time we are free for an hour or two.

Growing up makes reading a hard thing to do. Finding a day to start and finish a good book is so rare. For me, gone are the days that I was able to enjoy three books in a weekend.

Lately, I am making a list of things I used to do and having a weekend for reading is one that I really missed. So far, I am getting good books done and I must say days are a little stress free. Stories was tendency to bring me to their time.

How I love reading....

When I was in school, my Granny taught me how to reflect on a good story. It has been forever since I made one. But I think I will give it a try and share it with you. One day. I must free my time for reading first.

My Granny and I in our school uniform. I cannot remember what year this is.
She was an English teacher at St. Michael's College, Iligan City, Philippines.
